The competition is divided by 2 different categories, each category offers 3 sub-categories to compete in. All Teams have the ability to compete in all sub-categories. Each Team is allowed ONLY one routine per sub-category.

Routine Time Limit: 2:30

Deductions will be implemented if time limit is passed.

DANCE/DRILL CATEGORIES

All teams MUST be registered and have submitted their payment by February 25, 2013.

Subcategory Information: 

Lyrical
A Lyrical routine should demonstrate balance, extension, and control while using contemporary lyrical style.

Jazz
A jazz routine incorporates stylized dance movements and combinations, formation changes and group work. Emphasis is placed on proper jazz technique execution, extension, control, body placement and team uniformity.


Hip Hop
Routines can incorporate street style movements with an emphasis on execution, style, creativity, body isolations and control, rhythm, uniformity, musicality and tricks. Examples: Dance Crew, Krumping, Breaking, Stepping, etc. 


Kick
Routines incorporating kick/kick combinations. Emphasis on proper kick technique crediting the dancers’ variety/height of kicks/kick combinations, control, extension, creativity, stamina, and uniformity in timing and height of kicks. Each routine must have at least 50 kicks. We suggest that your routine have more than fifty kicks to ensure meeting the minimum requirements. A kick is defined as one foot remaining on the floor while the other foot lifts with force off the ground. Any time the leg extends at or above 90 degrees, contracts and extends again at or above 90 degrees, it will be defined as separate kicks.


Pom
Poms must be used 80% of the routine. Characteristics of a pom routine include synchronization and visual effect, clean/precise motions, and strong pom technique. Visual effects include level changes, group work, formation changes, etc.


Open
An open consist routine consist of a combination of at LEAST 3 subcategories, or any form of 3 dance styles outside of the subcategory listings. Including: song and dance, character, modern, tap, ballet, etc.
